Twin Cities’ residents Sam Hardman and Erica Rivera are venturing into new culinary territory by announcing a fundraising campaign for their new food truck, MILF and Cookies.
Widely recognized for her Man Eater and Crazy Sexy Delicious blogs, Rivera has been making mouths water—and jaws drop—across the Twin Cities for years. Now she’s prepared to share her treats on the streets and in the flesh.
The concept of MILF and Cookies evolved from Hardman and Rivera’s recent marriage, a whirlwind of romance documented in-depth online. Together, they’ve become a blended family of seven, and baking is one of the traditions that unites them.
“The menu will be fresh and edgy,” Rivera said. “Our cookies will have alluring names and taste just as naughty. They’ll be the treats your mother never made.”
From their Six Inches of Ecstasy collection (cookies stuffed with other sweets, like full-sized s’mores, Oreos, and Reese’s peanut butter cups) to their gluten-free offerings and their Guilty Pleasure Of The Day, MILF and Cookies wants to take your tastebuds for a wild ride. The truck will also provide premium coffee, hot cocoa, and flavored milk on board.
There’s just one kink in this plan: Hardman and Rivera need more dough. That’s where their RocketHub campaign comes in. The goal: $69,000. The deadline: December 31st. Sweet swag is being offered as incentives for donations, including a dozen “naughty bits” (cookies shaped like T&A with extra icing), thongs and boxers, invites to the truck’s exclusive launch party (warning: pasties may be involved), and ride-alongs in the truck. Plenty of items include the company’s busty logo, designed by local artist Adam Turman.
Poised to open in Spring of 2013, MILF and Cookies already has plans of expansion, including catering services and bulk bakery orders. Eventually, Hardman and Rivera want to add a brick-and-mortar establishment that will become a staple of the Twin Cities’ food scene. Their aim is to bring back the personal touch often lost in commercialized bakeries and chain establishments.
“We want this to be a family affair,” Rivera said. “The same people who mix, shape, and bake your cookie are the same ones passing it into your hot little hands.”
